Welcome to your first week of ski team! We're super stoked to get the season rolling! This is the general format of weekly announcements moving forward, so please read through it, familiarize yourself, and reach out with any questions or concerns.
As a reminder, join Remind for conversations and announcements outside of this weekly summary.
Practice schedule for the week:
Date | Time | Event | Location |
Tuesday 11/18 | 4-5:30pm | Dryland training | SMA Weight Room |
Wednesday 11/19 | 4-5:30pm | Dryland training | SMA Weight Room |
Thursday 11/20 | 4-5:30pm | Dryland training | SMA Weight Room |
Other events this week:
Jacket pick up is Thursday and Friday during lunch (1-1:30pm). Kerry (assistant athletic director) will meet you near the storage room in the back hallway in the basement (bottom of the stairs located at the back of the gym by the athletic office).
For Athletes:
Dryland training is sport-specific conditioning. You are expected to be dressed in appropriate athletic attire, including good shoes, and bring a water bottle. We begin at 4pm. Athletes are to be dressed and ready to start promptly at 4. Meet coaches in the yoga room in the basement of SMA.
Please get in the habit of storing your backpack and other belongings inside the locker room or in a locker during dryland. We practice in a shared space and need to keep it tidy for ourselves and others.
Have a healthy snack prior to dryland! This means a good balance of protein, carbs, and fats. Drink lots of water throughout the day and get good sleep so you're ready to perform at your best.
There is no on snow training this week, but it will be starting very soon! Make sure your gear fits well and you know where everything is. It's time to put snow tires on vehicles and wax on skis so we're ready to get to the mountain once they open!
If you have not yet completed the mandatory info form, please sit down with your parents do so TODAY. It incudes important information for my planning to help our season run smoothly.
You must be registered through Arbiter and have a current physical on file with the athletic office in order to participate in practice. Ensure this is completed before Tuesday so we don't have any issues.
Juniors & Seniors: If you're interested in applying to be a captain, it's due by 11/26. Do it before you get busy with holiday travel/plans next week.
Seniors: Sweatshirt designs are also due by 11/26. Do it before you get busy with holiday travel/plans next week. The goal is to order them Dec 1, so we need your design idea(s). Will be approved by athletic director, so keep that in mind. Avoid copyright issues and keep things in line with SMA expectations.
For Parents:
The driver approval/background check forms can be accessed using this link. This link is also posted to the website. Please complete this ASAP so you're approved and can participate in the carpool on day 1 of on snow training. You cannot drive any athletes besides your own child until you have completed the forms and been approved. The background check can take time, so please do this week if possible.
Skibowl Waivers are due by Dec 1. Complete the waiver for your athlete here:
Mt Hood League Waiver: Please complete the league waiver (I guess it wasn't in the registration). It's available on the Mt Hood League website as well.
Sample Carpool Signup: I've created a sample carpool so you can get used to using the interface to sign up to drive/find a ride for your athlete (they can also do that - up to you). There will be a new link for each carpool event and those will be in the weekly announcements. Please take a look/go through the motions, and let me know if you have any questions!
