Week of Dec 29th

Updated: Dec 30, 2025

Happy holidays!

Safe travels to those on the road and I hope that everyone has thoroughly enjoyed their holidays!

We’ve had some great days on snow and we’re looking forward to even more productive training days as we get into our final weekend of winter break.

Timberline is OPEN. They are open with limited operations. The snow is good and the crowds are sometimes better than other times, but overall not bad. They're trying to get more of the mountain open, but there is not much in the forecast for the next few days, so cross your fingers and toes the meteorologists are wrong.

I am keeping an eye on the forecast, and will make the final call for each day (Fri-Sun) 2 days ahead, so keep an eye on Remind as we get into the middle of the week for sure.

Please do me a favor and test the RSVP system through the website for practices this upcoming weekend. If all goes smoothly, this will be the system in place moving forward. RSVPs are especially important for bus days and races, so please get used to the system. If it's not good, we'll move to a Signup Genius instead. :)

Anthony Lakes Race - January 10th

As far as we know, this race is still happening so we should move forward with the intention of traveling to eastern Oregon Jan 9-10.

  • Travel

    • Carpools will depart Portland Fri 1/9, Return to Portland Sat 1/10 (*See notes)

    • Traveling as a carpool: if you are driving a carpool, you are more than welcome to depart Portland after school on Friday, Jan 9th. When you arrive to Baker City, you’ll check in at the front desk and they’ll have your room assignments. Anyone utilizing team provided lodging should plan to head back to Portland Saturday following the race. Those who are making a weekend of it are welcome to do what they want once athletes have been released by the coaches from their race day.

  • Race

    • Racing: We’ll race Saturday with the typical schedule - on the hill at 9, race starts at 10, lunch between first and second runs, then we should be done and off the hill between 2 and 3.

  • Lodging

    • If you are traveling as a solo athlete in a carpool or a parent chaperone (no extra siblings, etc): The team has booked a block of rooms for athletes, coaches, and parent chaperones at the Best Western in Baker City. These are double queen rooms and beds will be filled, meaning parent chaperones will share with their athlete or with another same sex parent chaperone - TBD.

    • If you are traveling as a family to Anthony Lakes: we cannot cover the cost of lodging for your entire family, but I did get a group rate that you can use. Follow the link below to take advantage of our group rate at the Best Western in Baker City (Check the other available rates too, just to be sure you're getting the best deal).

  • Food

    • Friday Dinner: Carpools should make their own plans for dinner on the road Friday - pack food or stop along the way. Athletes will be responsible for covering the cost of their dinner.

    • Saturday Breakfast: hotel breakfast (included in stay)

    • Saturday Lunch: Athletes are responsible for their lunch. Highly recommend packing this with you in a cooler/lunch box on Friday and sticking it in the fridge in the room Friday night. It looks like they do have food for purchase in the lodge if needed/preferred.

  • RSVP

    • Current List of RSVPs, Lodging Needs and Chaperones: please check the list below to make sure I have correctly recorded your plans & needs for the race weekend. If anything is wrong, please don't hesitate to reach out - the sooner, the better, but definitely let me know by this Wednesday! Thanks!
