Date: Friday, February 20
Venue: Gemini (Mt Hood Meadows)
Discipline: SL
Weather: Cold and overcast, maybe a little bit of snow
Athletes: Don't forget your HARD EAR RACE HELMET, SL SKIS, AND SL GUARDS, if you have them.
Travel
Carpools should plan to arrive to Meadows by 8am.
Race
Getting ready: We'll meet on the 2nd floor of the lodge where we'll have some tables for athletes to use to get dressed in the morning. Athletes should be headed outside at 8:45am to group up with coaches and get in line so we're headed up the lift at 9am.
Venue: The venue is not accessible by foot, unfortunately. So if you're a parent who is driving but does not ski or ride, I recommend bringing a book or a computer to work on while you're in the lodge.
Racing: We’ll race with a standard schedule, but there will be a push to move quickly so we aren't there all night for awards. Since the venue is far from the lodge, I recommend you bring a bag on the hill with food and water.

Start Order: The start order will be available on the league website tonight:
Live Timing: The links will be posted to the league website once/if available. https://mthoodleague.ski/
Meadows has good cell service. Keep an eye on Remind for any updates from coaches throughout the day.
Food
Athletes are responsible for their food on race days. Highly recommend packing this with you in a cooler/lunch box/backpack that fits into your boot bag and/or can be brought to the race venue.
Lift Tickets
Athletes will purchase their own lift ticket for race day. There is special racer pricing. Please purchase tickets online prior to Friday.
ALL ATHLETES MUST COMPLETE A MEADOWS WAIVER (1 per season): https://www.skihood.com/agreements/race-authorization
Post-Race Festivities
Please plan to hang at Meadows for a bit following the race, as we have some things going on that you'll want to be a part of. All activities will be at the lodge.
SMA Senior Day - Join us in our get-ready area as we recognize our seniors as they wrap up their regular league season/high school skiing career and move on to new and exciting endeavors!
League Potluck - All teams will be participating in a small snacks/desserts potluck in the racer room on the 1st floor of the lodge between racing and awards. Please contribute if you can and want to, but it is not mandatory.
League Awards - Shortly after we finish racing for the day, we will do our league awards. This includes recognizing individuals and announcing our teams who have qualified to race at state in a couple of weeks. Sportsmanship awards are also handed out during this time, so it's a great opportunity to cheer on yourself, teammates, and competitors who have shined as helpers, cheerleaders, and racers this season!
Plans for the Rest of the Weekend & Next Week
If we qualify for state as a team, initial invites will be sent out Friday evening, 2/20.
Saturday 2/21: On snow training at Timberline for state qualifiers (everyone is welcome and encouraged to join)
Sunday 2/22: On snow training at Timberline for state qualifiers (everyone is welcome and encouraged to join)
Tuesday 2/24: Dryland training at SMA for state qualifiers (everyone is welcome and encouraged to join)
Wednesday 2/25: Dryland training at SMA for state qualifiers (everyone is welcome and encouraged to join)
Thursday 2/26: TBA. If Skibowl opens, we'll ski. If not, we'll announce definite plans on Sunday in the announcements.
I'm busy with adult racing on Sat 2/28 and Sun 3/1. If you are looking for training opportunities that weekend, I'm more than happy to get you linked up with another coach who will be available Saturday. This will be an additional cost and is always weather dependent. We're all racing on Sunday, so take a rest day, get your homework done, and if you're headed to state, get rested for the long week ahead.
Have photos and videos to share from the season?
We put together a video at the end of the season, and the girls post to their team Instagram account, so if you have any photos/videos you take throughout the season and are willing to share, please upload them to the Google Drive folder using the button below.
